Okay, the way this will work is in many layers, but we'll start with the first one. 1. The first person asks an opinion question about the book. The second person must answer it, and then post another question at the end of their post. This is to keep conversations moving. 2. In your post you can answer previous questions or talk about anything you like -- just don't forget to answer the question above you and post another one! 3. Kep the discussion on Chapters 1-5 CHAPTERS 1-51. Why do you think Shasta never noticed we was light-colored unlike all the people around him? Always seemed like that would be a dead giveaway he was different...

I thought that was because that was all he had ever known. You don't know that something is different until you have something to compare it to. Since that would have been the way things were since he could remember, it would have seemed normal to him. Also, I think if he had questioned that as a very small child, he would have been given a dismissive answer of the that's just the way things are or don't ask stupid questions variety, which would have probably discouraged him asking about it much further.
I can't think of a question to ask... can I pass or something? Or I'll come back in a bit once I've thought of something?

Sure, you can pass. Anyone else like to ask a question?

Wow. Just love how everyone is passing off this question thing. Well, I don't know about this book. It was strange. (I've been rereading them all week). It was good, but just, oh I don't know. Okay, my question: Does anyone else feel that Lewis has described these Southern people (are they the Calormen?...can't remember) as almost Middle Eastern/Central Asian? And the Narnians and Archenlanders as Europeans? I got the same from Tolkien and the Easterlings, but this seemed much more prominent. I don't know...does that make any sense? Ha ha ha...

Yes, I noticed they are like that. Call him biased if you will It is also prominent in The Last Battle, I think. What is your opinion of Bree as a character? I'm curious.
